Squirrel luck

One morning, during a work-in, we noticed this squirrel apparently stuck up one of our out-curving perimeter fence posts. It looked as though it couldn't get down the outside and was too afraid to go around and down the inside (towards us).

About a minute after I got this picture, it suddenly decided to take the inside option and shot down the post onto the grass outside the wolves' pen. For a squirrel that's obviously afraid of humans that was a dumb move. In a panic, it headed straight across the grass to the pen, squeezed through the 2 inch weldmesh wire into the pen and galloped across the pen, hotly pursued by Peyto. Just as Peyto was ready to grab its heels it reached the other side and shot up the wire and out of the pen.

Lucky this time. But next time...
