A day out
On 1'st April the Anglian Wolf Society visited Shuttleworth Agricultural College at the
invitation of the English National School of Falconry. We set up our transportable pen beside the lake at the edge
of the showground and put our marquee up beside it. We took only one wolf, Cheza, to the event - Peyto decided
that he didn't want to go in the trailer that day (a choice he is free to make - we don't force our wolves to do
anything). He arrived there at 11:00 am and made himself at home immediately. During the day we took Cheza out
for a number of walks around private areas of the grounds with friends and selected visitors. This was his first
attendance at this kind of event and we monitored his reaction closely. We are pleased to say that he gave no indications
of distress and appeared to enjoy the whole day greatly. This kind of activity is typical of the dynamic enrichment
which captive wolves can enjoy when fully socialised. The whole event was a great success and we will be returning
to Shuttleworth soon. |
